Single
About Me:
I am a fun-loving Scorpio who enjoys long walks on the beach and lots of liquor while watching the sunset.

I am joining this site not a little tongue-in-cheek. I've grown up in Christian suburbia where the intention behind everything, conscious and otherwise, is to find a husband. I went to college where it was a joke (but not really a joke) that some girls were there for an MRS degree. I've since moved to Denver and joined a large inner-city ministry where Gad is showing me a better way. As Christians, I believe that we put altogether too much emphasis on marriage. Don't get my wrong, I fully believe that it is a relationship that reflects our relationship with God and an institution created for our happiness. But if you listed God's passions, I believe that they lie in other places. I'm not one of those few who are gifted with singleness. I fight my singleness every day and wonder, a lot, what I'm doing wrong. But I have plans God has revealed to me for me to do that I cannot do to my fullest while in a relationship. I can't truly be open to possibly working for the rest of my life with orphans in South Africa if I have a man waiting for me back in the US. For me (that's me, not you), to be so focused on a man that all other things fall into relation to marriage, would be a sin and I would not be happy.

My encouragement to you, then, is to make sure that the efforts you are putting into finding a man are right between you and God. You're going to live a long life after you're married and you need to be a fulfilled single woman with a life if you're going to be a fulfilled married woman with a life. Don't fall into the trap that your ministry and your life don't start until you're married. There is so much that you can do as an individual that you can't as a couple. Be content in the truth that God has the best in store for you and he hasn't given you a desire for a husband just to watch you squirm. Keep it in perspective. If you aren't married yet there's a reason. Find that reason and be happy in your Father.

Hi Linne, welcome to WPB. While we might disagree at some point about God's perspective on marriage, we definitely share an affinity for Mrs. Piggle Wiggle! Glad you're here.

Lookin' good Linne. Can I borrow the newest Boxcar Children book when you're done?
