hey sarah...unfortunately, i (and i assume many others on here) have had to go through moments like what you're facing now: when you meet someone and things go so well and then...it falls apart, too many times without much explanation. the reality is that though there probably is an explanation, i don't know that you should be searching for it. yes, that's how we often get closure, but i found this verse pretty fitting: Ecclesiastes 11:5: as you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, SO YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE WORK OF GOD, THE MAKER OF ALL THINGS. sometimes we don't get the answer. that's just how it is sometimes. and we need to learn to be OK with that. in the Chronicles of Narnia, there's a part where the main category asks Aslan why something happened to his friend. Aslan replies, "That's not your story." even though things affect us, we can't always fret about the "why" behind them because sometimes that's not for us to know. what i would advise you to do is to realize that God loves you and can use this experience--as bad and hurting as it is--to grow you and to take you toward the blessings he wants to give you. don't beat yourself up over the break-up (which is what women have a tendency to do and to blame themselves or try to figure out where they went wrong.) God loves to take the broken--whether it's a piece of bread or a person's heart--and use it to do amazing things (feed thousands or to save the world). he can do that here with you, too! (by the way, i wrote a lot about heartache and recovering in my own blog with a recent break-up of my own: http://lavieenvogue.wordpress.com/2008/01/10/writi Reply »

wow, i just now found this forum and this post was the one i couldn't wait to read as i was browsing them! callie, that's amazing that you're able to be over there for an extended amount of time--i can only imagine how much that has to just draw a person closer to God and grow you so much. so i will be praying for you, as you're out there, too. that's awesome. thanks for thinking of all the women you've never met--it's amazing to have a community willing to do that for one another. stay safe!
