Single
About Me:
I have a full-time job in an office, but also volunteer in ministry full-time as a church leader and overseer of an urban ministry. I help out with the youth group every week, discipling, mentoring, planning, etc. My calling is to work in the urban setting full-time, which I am working towards, getting a degree in urban ministry. I am also planning on going to seminary to get a MDiv. I'm trying the online dating services like Eharmony, but haven't got anywhere. I'm finding the older I get, and the deeper I get into ministry, my longing for a marriage partner increases. I want to find a man who is willing and committed to doing this with me. It's hard being a woman in ministry, and being a single woman at that.

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself. I wanted to post a few questions to get discussion started:

I was wondering how many ladies out there are trying internet dating sites like eharmony or Christian cafe? And if so, how is it going for you so far?

I recently have been trying eharmony, but my heart is not really in it.

What is your church or spiritual community like? Are you meeting other single people there, and how do the married couples support the singles there?

II attend a very small church, and the majority of the people there are dating or engaged, with the exception of a small handful of us. Plus, most people are a lot younger than me (5+ or more) and it gets a little disheartening having no one my age to relate to. Our married population is even smaller, but will soon increase with a few more couples this year.

How do you balance school, work, ministry, and relationships?

I've lived the last 5 or so years focused on ministry that I've put dating and relationships on the back burner. Which to say now, leaves me feeling very alone and without a lot of male friends or potential people in my social circle. I am planning on attending seminary this fall, and hope to meet a mixture of people who are like minded as me, but also open to marriage and family. I don't want to continue living unbalanced but want to learn how to make myself available to others in/outside of church and ministry and form potential relationships.
