I'm not even sure it's appropriate to use the word mecca, but that's what Craigslist is to a lot of people. Whether you need a job, a table, a roommate, something to do Saturday night or just a place to vent - Craigslist has a spot for you. They also offer a personals section - whatever or whoever you're into can pretty much be found there. Be warned now - this is NOT a christian site. I have unfortunately seen some vile, disgusting and downright nasty things there. But my favorite part, so much so it's become a regular stop on my internet schedule, is the Missed Connections. I check here every couple of days just in case someone saw me somewhere, fell head over heels in love, but missed the oppertunity to talk to me. They might have posted a missed conection on Craigslist in hope that I would see it and respond. I guess this is just one more example of how I really am a romantic even though I won't admit it. Throught all my searching I have never once had anyone look for me. Thinking about it, if a guy notices me, I would hope he would approach me. That kind of confidence and straight forwardness is a real turn. Would I answer a listing on MIssed Connections? Maybe. But I would be much more attracted to the guy that doesn't need to hide behind a screen name.
So, if you have a couch you want to sell within the hour - go to Craiglist.
If you want to find out where the next Brazillian puppet theatre will be - go to Craigslist.
If you would like a weekend gig as a camera operator in a no-budget student film- go to Craigslist.
If you want to meet someone- go outside where actual people are.
