About Me:
Like the rest of you, I am marriage-minded, and doing my best to get there... 30 and single, I've come to the realization that getting married is quite difficult these days, VERY DIFFICULT! And that makes me pretty angry, becuase married is where I want to be and it really shouldn't be this darn hard and trivial! Nevertheless, it is and so I am here to find hope and encouragment, mentoring, inspiration, prayer, and to give the same... I author a blog dealing with the issues of sexuality and sexual purity for singles and marrieds, check it out at www.beforetheknot-andafter.blogspot.com.

I am a lover of music, I play the violin.... I love dance, music and the arts... I take ballet and modern dance for the past eight or so years... I workout a lot.. Pilates, Fluidity and the Firm are some of my faves... I read a lot and love to have discussions on the issues of relationships, sexuality, and family...

Hi Guys, So my friend lives in the D.C. area and visits Capitol Hill Baptist occasionally. What I want to know is what do you know about their single men there or single's ministry, if they have one? I went on their website and found some very encouraging information they have shared in the past with their singles, especially the men with accountability and pursuing marriage. I was very impressed. So tell me what you know, if you know! Just curious?!! Thanks, Trinia :) Reply »

Praying for Discernment (for discussion and prayers)

Hi Catherine, Thanks for being so candid about your struggles. I have to say, though, that many of the women here have dated people, been in relationships, etc... that did not lead to marriage. And others are quite grounded in what their expectations are. I think often people think that because someone is single they have a view that once in a relationship or finding a great guy things will be perfect. I dont think that's where the excitement and hope comes from, not from the expectation of perfection or a seamless relationship, but more about the hope of experiencing and sharing life with someone period, with all the ups and downs, and disagreements, etc... But simply the hope of sharing a life with another that would lead to family, intimacy and many other seemingly mundane things. Purity is a difficult aspect of our Christian walk to maintain, and it takes bold boundaries in order not to fall. Riding the fence often gets us in trouble, and not making clear boundaries about what is appropriate and what is not often leaves us confused and in situations in which we cannot say no. Check out my blog at www.beforetheknot-andafter.blogspot.com. i'm sure you'll enjoy reading some of the articles I've written there, speaking about my own struggle with purity. If it weren't for grace, and knowledge and many other things the Lord has given me, strength and courage, I would not be pure to this day. It has been hard but with God, and drawing near to Him and truth, we find that we are able to do the impossible, but it takes the willingness to agree with HIm in all that we do, especially keeping appropriate and healthy boundaries, which don't always make us feel good but protect us from our own fallen humanity.... Blessings, Trinia Reply »

Hi Trinia, Loving your website "Before the Knot and After". I'll have to go in and have a much closer read. Some good stuff in there & the sexual purity vibe rocks!!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you, to praying for you, and to hearing many a testimony of God's goodness throughout the coming year. Let's remain expectant to see His promise of marriage manifest in our lives - it will happen! And in the heavenlies, It is done!!
