I am asking about their singles ministry there, their teachings, practices, are there single men there and do they tend to be marriage minded, are marriages encouraged in their ministry and etc... Whatever you know... Reply »

Hi Guys, So my friend lives in the D.C. area and visits Capitol Hill Baptist occasionally. What I want to know is what do you know about their single men there or single's ministry, if they have one? I went on their website and found some very encouraging information they have shared in the past with their singles, especially the men with accountability and pursuing marriage. I was very impressed. So tell me what you know, if you know! Just curious?!! Thanks, Trinia :) Reply »

Hi Catherine, Thanks for being so candid about your struggles. I have to say, though, that many of the women here have dated people, been in relationships, etc... that did not lead to marriage. And others are quite grounded in what their expectations are. I think often people think that because someone is single they have a view that once in a relationship or finding a great guy things will be perfect. I dont think that's where the excitement and hope comes from, not from the expectation of perfection or a seamless relationship, but more about the hope of experiencing and sharing life with someone period, with all the ups and downs, and disagreements, etc... But simply the hope of sharing a life with another that would lead to family, intimacy and many other seemingly mundane things. Purity is a difficult aspect of our Christian walk to maintain, and it takes bold boundaries in order not to fall. Riding the fence often gets us in trouble, and not making clear boundaries about what is appropriate and what is not often leaves us confused and in situations in which we cannot say no. Check out my blog at www.beforetheknot-andafter.blogspot.com. i'm sure you'll enjoy reading some of the articles I've written there, speaking about my own struggle with purity. If it weren't for grace, and knowledge and many other things the Lord has given me, strength and courage, I would not be pure to this day. It has been hard but with God, and drawing near to Him and truth, we find that we are able to do the impossible, but it takes the willingness to agree with HIm in all that we do, especially keeping appropriate and healthy boundaries, which don't always make us feel good but protect us from our own fallen humanity.... Blessings, Trinia Reply »
