One of my favorite people from childhood was recently featured, along with her husband, in a video concerning marriage. Apparently, it was part of a sermon series on marriage. I found it interesting, honest, and scary. name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TxP2D59wzbE&rel=0&border=0">

I know I'm going to get married. I don't doubt it. I just don't know when or who the lucky man will be. For the past three years I've been praying that God would prepare my heart for marriage. Since reading "Get Married" I've been praying Proverbs 31 over myself and asking God to increase my wisdom and prudence.

I believe in prayer and don't intend on stopping, but with all the talk of marriage and seeing the men around me, my focus has changed. I had to do some soul searching on Sunday when it dawned on me that I was at church to see two guys instead of to worship God. It is so easy for me to place people in front of God. I tend to lean on my friends, parents and in the past, boyfriends, instead of first leaning on the shoulder of my Heavenly Father.

I find that when my priorities are in order - with God as No.1 - my life is in order, even when chaos surrounds me.

"Lord, be the lover of my soul and first in my life. I know that as my love for You increases, there will be more room in my heart to love others. Continue to prepare my heart for marriage and prepare my husband's heart for marriage. Reign in our hearts so that our relationship will glorify You."

Hey, Esther! Sorry it's taken me so long to write back. I did finish Candice's book, and really loved the balanced, Scripture-focused approach to the subject of singleness vs. marriage. It was enlightening how she took those familiar verses that we've heard a million times, and made some good points about the context surrounding them.

By the way, speaking of naming things, I dubbed my parents' car "Helga" because of the GPS lady's voice. We talk about "her" and make all kinds of crazy jokes about how irritated Helga must be when we ignore her directions. ;)

Oh, and I just realized we have similar profile pics- sittin' on the porch, waiting for our knights in shining armour to ride up, right?!

Hahaha, "Wade," that's awesome! :) lol Sounds like a kind of name that I would pick, lol. I like the name Charlotte for your car--it's cute. I named my "Lola", partly after Barry Manilow's song, "Copa Cabana" because I like Barry, but also because my dad came up with a really cool acronym for it:

L Love

O Our

L Lord

A Always

It was a good reminder, since God was totally the One who provided the car for me (I was driving around a car that was over 20 years old before that and it was breaking down every couple of weeks. God knew that I needed a newer car and provided one in such a way that I felt more blessed than I ever really had in my life). :)

Hi Esther!

I hope that you're having a great night tonight. :)! I love your thumbnail pic--hahaha, is that a gnome sitting in the other chair? That is too cute and funny--and very creative! :) Did you give him a name yet? :) I'm always naming things--I did with stuffed animals growing up and I name my car, my plants, the birds that come and eat peanuts out of my family's hands....it's a little habit I guess, lol :D
