Melissa, Just to clarify myself, I didn't mean that my suggestion was too bold FOR YOU... Just that I know some people would probably consider it to be too bold. I am not one to give sage advice on dating, but I do know that most of the men in our lives are just as unsure and timid as we are about love/relationships. I'm not saying that men shouldn't take the lead, and shouldn't pursue or take the initiative... Not at all! But I do know that they need to KNOW that someone might possibly be interested, or else they might not even try. It hurts to get turned down. I hope it works out for you, how exciting! Please keep us updated if anything materializes with these guys! =) Hugs, Reply »

This may be too bold for you, but what if each of your friends’s approach the men, and ask them if they are seeing anyone. And if not, would they be interested in taking down their good friend's (yours!) name/email address, etc. And if God leads one or both of the men to contact you, then the men would essentially be doing the pursuing. All you would have done is have told your friend's that sure, you'd be interested in meeting a new guy and leave the rest up to God. It would be so much easier for me to approach a guy on behalf of my single friend, and do it in a very God-Fearing way, than it would for me to go and introduce myself to a single guy at the coffee stand! But that's just me. Praying for you, Melissa. Reply »

Hi Janet, and welcome. =) I don't think it would be wrong to date (or not date) men named Jonathan... Unless you clearly sense the Lord advising you on the issue. Seek His Will for your dating life. And trust me when I say to "keep it holy", follow God's law and daily seek Him to direct your steps... Then, when you do meet someone who may or may not be named Jonathan, God's leading will be stronger for you than the gentlemen's name. I always thought I'd marry someone named Michael! ;o) But my boyfriend's name is Nathan! Reply »
