Hmm....Good question. I think that the desires of our hearts do play a role in God's plan for our lives. Often people quote the verse in the Bible which speaks of us delighting ourselves in the Lord, and as a result Him giving us the desires of our hearts. I once heard a preacher comment on this verse. In some way he mentioned that if we are truly walking with the Lord, spending that time developing our relationship with Him, then He in essence places those desires of His in our hearts. In other words, our perspectives, and our way of thinking begins to line up with His...our desires begin to look more like His. As for screwing up what He wants to accomplish in your life, our God is a faithful God. He created us, He remembers that we are dust. He promises to guide us through His word. I believe He gives us the ability to make choices, and often we do make mistakes. But there is a verse in Psalms where it says God shows us the proper path when we go astray...and then in Romans He promises to work everything togther for our good. What a gracious, wonderful God we serve! Reply »

Lately God as been calling to my attention the whole concept of Hope. There are many verses in the Bible that talk about placing our hope in God. I'm sure that many of you, like me have a desire to get married. But I currently find myself in a place where I feel that my "hope" is in a fragile state. I've been asking God, "What does it look like to have hope in You? How can I have hope for various things (ex: hope for a relationship to work out) while making sure that my hope doesn't center itself around those things alone. What do you all think? Have you found it difficult to have hope in God when it seems like the hope that you have often gets dashed? -Sophia Reply »
