Big Churches are lonely too

I completely understand the hardships of meeting people (especially men) in small churches and small towns. But large churches have thier issues as well. I go to very large church in So. Cal. but those single guys are still quite elusive. Every Sunday morning I am front and center greeting people as they walk in the door, and the vast majority of men have their wives or girlfriends with them. In churches where there is a greater population of men, there is also a greater population of women. It can be a double edge sword. I am a member of a ministry where meeting people is our job, but I don't want my primary goal of that ministry to be meeting single guys. Do other people agree that it is pretty easy to get 'lost' in a big church?

"Visit" another church. Scout out the territory!

Okay, now Im not saying to leave your church. But "visit" another one (same denomination if you would like) and see whats out there. Go to the singles class and see if you spark a young mans eye. I mean, that is definitely being bold. :-) And it can't hurt. I just go this idea this morning when my old youth pastor called me wanting me to try out a young adult group hes trying to put together. I thought, well it can hurt! Who knows whos out there. Ill just scout out the territory! :-)

No Single Men In Sight

I am a Children's Minister in Virginia at a small church (about 100) There are no single men in sight. We have lots of married couples in their 30's. There are only 3 single women in my church, one is a Widow, one divorced and then there's me single never married 31yr old. What am I to do??? Where can I find a good Christian guy? Any suggestions???

Small town Blues

I'm a small town girl in a very rural part of Canada's smallest province. It seems that all the single men, Christian or not, have decided to pull a Moses and haul robe out of here. I'm sure I'm not alone in this stiuation. Small towns seem to be getting smaller every day. So what my question is is this, What do you do when there just aren't any men to choose from?

Hi Everyone,

I just ordered the Get Married book today. I can't wait to start reading it for good practical ideas and lots of encouragment.

I never thought I would be in my 30's and still be single, it just never occured to me but of course it occured to God, He knows what's going on. I'll just keep trusting Him.

I would love to meet new friends and pray for you as you pray for me.

Penny

Hey Penny, we've never met before but I saw you were a children's minister in Suffolk -- I'm in Chesapeake as well and work in the children's ministry at my church in South Norfolk -- lived in Suffolk for a little while and was wondering if our paths had ever crossed?

Hola chica :)

I'm just writing to say that I hope that you had a good day today and that God knows your heart and He loves you. :) He has numbered the amount of hairs on your head because He is in love with you and can't help spending time with you. I pray that God's love and closeness bless your heart this week and you will know just how much God loves you and just how very, very special you are to Him. :)

God's blessings on you sister,
Alicia

Hey Penny,
Sorry it took so long for me to reply... Hey, we should get together and hang out sometimes. I see that we like to do some of the same things. I come out to suffolk some days. My girlfriend lives downtown. But I'm usually hanging around Portsmouth or Chesapeake some days. Email me and we can exchange numbers, it would be great to meet you!

I love that verse! I thank you for your encouragement! I think one thing I do struggle with is really believing that God created me the way I am and loves just the way I am. So that verse is beautiful for that.
