Week 7 & subsequent weeks: our future families

Started by Emily Apr 22

Hello everyone, sorry I have neglected my duties of posting new prayer topics! From now on, I would like us to pray about the same issue -- our future husbands and children, God willing we get married and have kids. Let's pray for godly husbands who will lead and love us and make us more like Christ; let's pray for godly, fruitful children (if we are to have/adopt children) who will grow up in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus, and who will serve Him all the days of our lives -- also having fruitful and godly children themselves; and let's pray that we would be godly, wise, loving and kind wives and mothers, cultivating wonderful, godly families for Christ. We will meet together across the world each week to pray for our future families at the usual times each Friday (see below). Think of the impact we can have on the generations that will hopefully follow us if we pray for them! I am really looking forward to joining with you in prayer on this topic, as this is something I am very passionate about! Prayer meeting each Friday: GMT: 10pm US: Eastern: 5pm Central: 4pm Mountain: 3pm Pacific: 2pm Alaska: 1pm Australia: (Saturday) Eastern: 8am Central: 7am Western: 6am South Africa: 12am (Friday midnight) Reply »

Week 5: us & future husbands ready for marriage 8 Replies

Started by Emily. Last reply by karen Apr 8.

Sorry it has taken me a while to get round to posting the next prayer topic! Consequently, we will be taking a break from our Friday prayer meeting this week and will be praying together next week instead. Anyway, onto this week's topic (beginning today and ending next weekend). I would like us to pray together for ourselves and for our future husbands (God willing we get married) that we would be ready for marriage. Let's pray boldly that the Lord would shape and mould us and prepare us for our potential role as wives, and that He would also be shaping and building that man we one day will marry (if we do) into a noble husband. We can pray for all aspects of this - that our future husbands and we would be ready and prepared spiritually (mature in Christ), practically (having our own necessary skills for marriage - for us to be good at homemaking, for the man to be able to provide financially, etc), mentally & emotionally (hearts healed by God, not bringing emotional baggage into our marriage, keeping pure), even physically (looking after our health, etc). Please don't get me wrong - none of us will ever be close to perfect when we enter into marriage, and we certainly don't need to be in order to qualify for it. It is a gift of God, given to us at the right and proper time and in the right and proper way - if given at all. But let us pray that we and our future husbands would be preparing ourselves for that right now - working our way to becoming responsible Christian adults who are capable of handling marriage (I know I am certainly not quite there yet!). Again, we will be praying together on Friday - that is, Friday 4th April, at the usual times: GMT: 10pm US: Eastern: 5pm Central: 4pm Mountain: 3pm Pacific: 2pm Alaska: 1pm Australia: (Saturday) Eastern: 8am Central: 7am Western: 6am South Africa: 12am (Friday midnight) I look forward to praying with you all again! And remember, please contribute any Scriptures, prayers, or things you have on your hea... Reply »

Week 6: the courtship

Started by Emily Apr 7

This week, let us pray for the time that - God-willing - we will actually meet our future husbands and get into a relationship with them. Pray that you would do him good right from the day you meet him; pray that he would be bold in asking you out and in leading you; pray that we would trust in God's timing for this to happen; pray for emotional and physical purity during the relationship; and pray above all for us to do things right and glorify God. We will be praying about this until the coming Sunday, and will be joining together to pray this Friday (11th) again, at the following times: GMT: 10pm USA: Eastern: 5pm Central: 4pm Mountain: 3pm Pacific: 2pm Alaska: 1pm Australia: (Saturday) Eastern: 8am Central: 7am Western: 6am South Africa: 12am (Friday midnight) Reply »
