When Temptation Feels Too Strong

I was working on Monday's Q&A column yesterday—a question from a woman who says the man she loves wants nothing more than sex from her. Still she's finding it hard to leave him, even though he asked to have an abortion. Today's Daily Light was full of Scriptures that are a help in desperate circumstances.

The Lord is for me. Psalm 118:7

May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you; may He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! Some trust in chariots and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright. Psalm 20:1-2, 5, 7-8

When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59:19

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. Psalm 118:6

Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us, and He will deliver us. Daniel 3:17

These would be such helpful verses for you to memorize so they're at the ready when you feel week.

Are you being tempted, feeling like you're powerless to fight? These verses are a powerful weapon against the enemy that would love to see you fall. Print them out. Read them. Memorize them. Stand firm. God is for you!

Today Steve and I are speaking at a local conference for singles. He'll be talking to the men about not rushing ahead of God or lagging behind when it comes to finding (and taking) a wife.

I'll be talking to the women about when it's good to wait for a husband (I know, not my typical focus!) and how what you're waiting for and how you wait makes all the difference in marrying well. Our friend Jennifer is going with us, Flip in hand (and on the tripod), to hopefully shoot some video footage. If all goes well, we're planning to post a few clips here. Stay tuned.

I am on pg 75. Your book speaks what I have been asking and saying to God for a long time. No my church has not been fully committed to helping signles get married. I had a mentor these past few years. I have negative and a little positive on marriage. But lack of help. I beleive if you are going to mentor any woman. You must take full responsibility to pray with them in person, on phone ask questions at least once a week. Pray for them every day thereafter.
I believe a lot of Christian woman and men lack this in their church, and bible studies and with Christian friends. Its so sad.
A lot of Christians live and act like those nighttime soap shows. I have seen the way to much. Everytime I get invovled in a signle group thing.
